Preparation

Steamer Lane- Santa Cruz
Embarking on a three month driving tour of the Pacific coast of Mexico I've found myself pleasantly overwhelmed with a myriad of obligations and loose ends to tie up prior to departure. The seemingly sufficient checklist which I created over a month ago manages to demand two new obligations for each one crossed out. Nevertheless progress has occurred, and with less than two weeks to complete the necessary preparations I find each remaining list item more frivolous than the last. The beauty of embarking on a trip  without any sort of pre-packaged itinerary is that it has allowed, or forced me to appreciate the disparity which exists between conceptualizing such an endeavor and executing it. Sure anyone can come up with an idea, people do it all the time, It is ones ability to compartmentalize the process by which it can be achieved and then execute those steps in a efficient chronological fashion to achieve the end result.  Patience coupled with a certain degree of objectivity are the skills I would like to tell myself I have acquired so far in planning this trip, however the true meter of achievement will be the degree to which this whole trip goes off without a hitch, or more realistically, the minimization of those inevitable hitches.
